From humble beginnings..

METROL TIMELINE

1984

Our first year of trading from Abington Square, Northampton.

And with it our first order placed by Austin Rover.

1987

Our move from Abington Square to Talbot Road saw us become Manufacturers.

1988

The launch of our brand Nitro Springs.

1989

Metrol goes global with our distributor in South Africa, the first of many worldwide Metrol distributors.

Metrol publish their first range of gas spring catalogues

1991

Metrol proud to be exhibiting at The Precision Toolmaker Show.

1992

Metrol launch their range of gas struts increasing the range of Nitrogen Spring products and solutions available from Metrol.

1994

Within 10 years we had completely outgrown our premises and moved to Lower Farm Place, Northampton.

Investment in our first CNC machine.

1995

Metrol win major export contracts including Japan and Korea.

1997

Within 3 years of moving we realised we still needed to go bigger. Therefore, a decision was made to move again to our 10,000 square foot facility on Tenter Road in Northampton.

1998

Gained full ISO 9001 approval from Eagle Star Accreditation Board.

Metrol went online with the launch of metrol.com

£50,000 investment in Hare 16GP Press.

2002

Zurich Risk Services confirm that all of our industrial products meet the latest Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC.

2003

Metrol launch it's latest Nitro-Spring catalogue with new ranges meeting international standards.

Metrol become UK distributor for Tohatsu Springs from Japan.

2004

Paul Hynes and Chris Pegram are made directors joining Andrew Marks and Rob Lamb.

Metrol continue to expand it's product range and see significant growth in it's Nitro-Strut range.

2005

Launch of our brand new online web shops and with it our online sales department meeting the increasing demands for business to be carried out online.

Major export orders are fulfilled for LDV and Daewoo projects.

2006

Metrol supply on major FIAT projects for the first time.

2009

Launch of our Hardware Division.

Metrol become an official distributor forming a strong alliance with the group based in our hometown in Northampton.

Launch of our online web shop: accuridedrawerslides.co.uk

2010

Investment in our first cutting edge twin spindle CNC lathe.

Formed our Special Application Division.

2011

Orderbid become the official distributor for Metrol in China.

Metrol purchase additional building for warehousing.

2012

Rebranding of the Nitro-Spring logo to include the union flag - Proud to be a British manufacturer.

Investment programme continues with new CNC machinery.

Approval for Nitro-Springs on all JLR Tooling Worldwide.

2013

Relaunch of our full online CAD download center. Helping to assist engineers woldwide regardless of timezone.

Investment in new laser marking system for the permanent marking of Nitro-Springs products in accordance with PED 97/23/EC. Purchase of our £250k Robotic turning centre giving us true lights out capability.

2014

Metrol Springs Celebrates 30 years and continues significant investment with it's expansion plans for it's first exhibition in China.

Metrol Springs exhibition stand at the annual Die and Mould show in Shanghai. Working in close conjunction with our Chinese agent “Orderbid”, Metrol is proud to showcase high quality, British produced “Nitro-Springs” in China.

2015

Metrol become sole distributor for Agathon in UK and Ireland

Expanded to our new 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.

Investment in new CNC machinery.

2016

Restructuring of Metrol into two divisions "Metrol tooling" and "Metrol Motion Control".

2017

Record sales year!

Approval of our first patent for RSNG gas springs. More patent applications to follow.

Metrol Invests in automated laser marking, a new machine with the capacity to mark up to 200 springs in one session.

2018

Metrol achieve ISO9001-2015 approval.

Continued investment in stock & machining has meant that we have run out of space - New 5200ft extension.

Another new CNC Lathe is installed at our large Northampton facility.

2019

Investment in new machinery introduces automated gas spring charging and testing, whilst capacity is increased with a new twin gantry robotic loader from CMZ.

2020

Metrol becomes part of the Lesjofors group.
