Agathon are world leading innovators for developing and manufacturing high-precision guide elements. In particular – they are experts in back-lash free guiding systems. Agathon products are used in many applications such as mold construction, punching tools, and mechanical engineering.
Metrol are the UK and Ireland distributors for Agathon, which are made of the highest quality materials in Switzerland. The unrivalled surface quality, along with tight tolerances, produce an efficient and exceptional product with a long lifespan.
Agathon components have been made in accordance with ISO/DIN standards, which promotes standard diameters, tolerances, and a centering aid on pillars and bushes, resulting in simple installation and replacements. Due to the extremely tight tolerances on these products, high efficiency is guaranteed. Roller guides can exit the preload through a stationary / mobile retaining or positioning system.
Slide guide bushes
These help to reduce speeds for long strokes that have high forces with pillar diameters of 15-63mm.
The slide guide bushes are self-lubricated and have a bronze plating.
Antifriction guides
Antifriction guides aid with smooth, and backlash free functioning for preloads.
Ball cages are available in aluminium, brass, and plastic, and produce axial and rotational movements at high speeds with pillar diameters of 3-63mm.
Roller cages are available in aluminium and brass with pillar diameters of 15-63mm. They allow rigid axial movements, enhanced stroke frequencies and load capacities.
Agathon’s precision die-sets are designed to be highly accurate and manufactured with quality materials. They can be custom solutions suitable to customer drawings and can be fitted with slide, ball, or roller guide features.
Standard die-sets
The perlite cast iron material provides damping and high load capabilities.
Designed to meet ISO/DIN/Agathon requirements.
Fine punching die-sets are available for fine blanking.
Bespoke die-sets
Can be machined to meet exact specifications.
Manufactured using steel and aluminium that has undergone heat treatment to minimise stress, in special alloy with a 460-550 N/mm2 tensile strength.
Standard die-sets that are made from cast iron material can be reworked to meet the requirements of customer drawings.
Designed for both small and medium sized tools.
Agathon Round Fine Centering Units
As well as new dies the RFC can be retrofitted onto any older mould tool helping extend the life of the tool with better added guidance. Agathon has just released the 7980/1 range of RFC which comprises the mini fine centering device. This RFC unit can be used on interchangeable mold inserts which will dramatically cut down on changeover times.
The mini RFC can also be used with or without a bush as long as the mating steel has been hardened, saving space and giving added flexibility on the placement of installation.
