Offset Hinges

In an offset hinge, either one or both leaves can be bent or built so that the door can open wider than a standard hinge would offer. This is because the pivot point will be positioned further away from the application, rather than flush to it, allowing the opening distance to increase.

A major benefit of offset hinges is that the door can extend fully open, allowing it to lie directly against a wall, particularly useful in certain situations, such as creating an accessible space for wheelchair users. Offset hinges can also be installed on universal door frames without the need for excessive modification.

Offset hinges may be slightly more visible than other hinges due to the shape of the offset leaf. When installing an offset hinge, it is crucial to measure the size of the offset precisely so that it fits properly.

Offset hinge applications

There are various types of offset hinges, which are most commonly used in household cabinets, wardrobe doors, accessible doorways, and spaces that require a door to have a wider opening.
