Understanding Accuride Slide Features

Our Accuride slides are available with a wide range of advanced features, allowing you to choose a slide that is perfect for your application. From materials and finishes to anti-tilt and mounting options, you really can filter the selection of slides by all of your essential elements.

We understand that the sheer number of options can be a little overwhelming, and so in this article, we will be breaking down what some of them mean.

Accuride Part Codes

At the start of each Accuride part code, there is a prefix and a suffix letter, which are used to identify what finishes and features the slide has. Refer to this guide, which translates the features, when choosing your slide.

Prefix letters:
DZ – electro zinc plate and blue passivate (salt spray tested to over 12 hours)
DB – electro zinc plate and black passivate (salt spray tested to over 96 hours)
DW – white electro plate
DH – corrosion-resistant plating (up to 96 hours)
DS – stainless steel
DA – aluminium
DP – organo mineral coating (corrosion resistant up to 500 hours)

Suffix letters:
SC – self close
HDSC – heavy-duty self-close
DO – hold out
TR – touch release
HDTR – heavy duty touch release
EC – easy close / soft close

Features Explained

Self-close (SC) – once the drawer has been closed a certain amount, it will automatically pull closed the rest of the way, by itself.

Hold out (DO) – once extended, the drawer will hold out in place, and a slight push will allow it to close again.

Touch release (TR) – this is also known as push to open, and it refers to the user simply pressing against the drawer, the latch releasing, and the drawer opening slightly.

Disconnect – allows you to separate the drawer from the cabinet (and reattach it), without any tools required. This is ideal for applications that need quick and easy access to all parts of the drawer for regular cleaning and maintenance.

Lock in – once the drawer is closed, it will be held securely shut in place. This is particularly beneficial for use in moving applications, such as drawers inside an ambulance, as it prevents the drawer from accidentally opening and the contents from spilling out.

Lock out – once the drawer is fully open, it will be locked securely in place. This is commonly used as a safety feature for drawers with heavy contents inside, preventing it from slamming shut.

Corrosion resistance (DS) – slides that are suitable for corrosive environments, such as the marine industry. Also suitable for sterile environments that require regular wipe-downs. Corrosion-resistant slides will not degrade when subjected to water or specific chemicals.

Anti-tilt – stops drawers from tipping down when extended, ideal for heavy-duty use. This looks after the longevity of the slide, whilst also providing an extra safety measure.

Interlock – prevents the drawer unit from completely tipping over by allowing only one drawer to open at a time.

Mounting Options

When browsing our Accuride slides, you will notice there are two mounting options: suitable for flat mounting and not suitable for flat mounting

Flat mounting is when the slide is mounted flat against the base of the drawer; it is a more discreet option. If a slide is not suitable for flat mounting, it will be mounted on the side of the drawer, and this is the most common installation method. It is important to note that flat mounting will reduce a slide’s load capacity by 75%.

Brackets Explained

We offer two types of brackets that can be used to install your slides: screw-in and bayonet.

Screw-in brackets are suitable for both wood and steel applications, and you simply screw the slide securely to the application, using the pre-drilled holes on the slide. Once screwed in, you can still reach the attachment points, as the slide is built with access areas in mind.

Bayonet mounting uses hooks to attach the slide to cutouts in the application, rather than screws. This allows for quicker installation, but the application must be designed with these cutouts beforehand.
